Nancy Ursell founded Bloomingperfect back in 2000 after leaving the investment banking world to follow a flower design course at a top West London Flower School. With now over eight years experience in designing flowers for todays modern bride, she has has been lucky enough to have decorated some of the most beautiful venues in and around London, Surrey and Kent. In January 2007, her first book was published "Creating Beautiful Wedding Flowers" published by Ryland, Peters and Small. This is a hard back book with 20 step-by-step projects of how to create bridal bouquets, simple table centre-pieces, buttonholes, and chair backs. It's an excellent reference book to give brides a sample of her work and to also get some ideas for their own wedding flowers. The book has been advertised in some of the top bridal magazines, including Wedding Magazine, Brides and You and Your Wedding. Nancy now lives in Tunbridge Wells, Kent and has built up an excellent reputation with some of the local venues through providing beautiful flower designs for her clients. In 2008 Bloomingperfect started teaching students from Greycoat Placements how to create a simple, but beautiful, table centre-piece for their households. The students are training to become butlers, housekeepers and gardeners. In April 2008, Greycoat Placements held their open day at Chiddingstone Castle, where Bloomingperfect gave a days masterclass to various attendees, including members from the press, ex-pupils from the school, and a writer for Country Living magazine. We pride ourselves on trying to make little changes to the way we work - which all helps the environment. For starters, we compost all our green waste - nothing is put into the usual weekly collection of refuse - it is all composted and put to green use (our allotment!). We also recycle all our cardboard waste and plastic - wherever we possibly can. We also purchase our flowers from mainly European and English markets - wherever possible. Obviously we cannot do this for every flower type and if clients demand non-English flower types, we do our best to achieve that from Dutch auctions. Some of our flowers are organically grown and our growers promise us they do not use pesticides on a good percentage of cut flowers - again this is not a guarantee all the flowers we use are organically grown - but we are trying our best to use those flowers that are. Lastly - we operate from a "mess" within an old Watermill in the village of Speldhurst - we don't have the need for cold rooms or fridges - unforutnately for us our mess room is extremely cold and quite damp, fortunately for our flowers they love it and surive in the short time they have in there, brilliantly. So... we are doing our bit for the environment and are proud of the way we work within the restrictions we have with flowers.
