Buttonholes and corsages From a beautiful blood red rose or pure white rose buttonhole, a modern cluster of red hot chillies, or a seasonal bunch of ivy with red berry, there are so many choices and it is best to discuss this when considering the other personal flowers. Roses are a firm favouring for buttonholes and female corsages, they are long lasting withstand wiring and being left out of water, and look perfect at the end of the day when other flowers will be tired and wilting. Freesias are also a good flower to use again for the same reasons as the rose. There are many other suitable choices but anything soft-stemmed (tulip, anemone, narcissi) are harder to use for wiring as buttonholes, especially in the warmer weather. |

Bouquets The bridal bouquet can be anything from a dramatic shower bouquet, an elegant over the arm shape or a classic hand tied posy with summer peonies, roses and freesia. The choice of shape, flowers and colours are endless. Consider your height, dress colourings and shades, whether your bridal gown is detailed with jewels and beading, or totally plain, long and elegant. If your gown is detailed, try to go for a simpler rather than fussy bouquet, if your dress is long and elegant, you can add more detail to your bouquet, diamante and beading. It's always best to look at all the different styles, and if possible pictures of dresses where models are holding bouquets - you will get a better idea of what the two look like together.

Table Centres Tall narrow clear vases are perfect for adding height to a tall room and guests can actually see across the table which is very important - there is nothing worse than something blocking guests across the table. Always check with venues that you are allowed to light candles, even though you may have them in a table centre piece, some venues do not allow lighting them (barns, wooden beams etc). The reception flowers are usually the bulk of your budget, so remember its not just the flowers that make up the cost, but the type of container you choose will make a huge impact on your budget. There are plenty of simple and less extravagant options of containers available, and it's amazing how lovely a simple glass jar with soft summer flowers arranged can look!
